CBC, Ontario government spent millions in autism legal battle
The Ontario government has spent slightly more than $2.4 million in taxpayer dollars on a seven-year court battle with the parents of autistic children, Attorney General Michael Bryant said Tuesday as he acceded to a court order that the figure be released.

The money quote, and one that should be in every newspaper in the province and should headline any debate, comes from Attorney General Michael Bryant in the Globe & Mail:

"It's in the public interest that we put an end to this, and disclose the information," Mr. Bryant said in an interview.

2.4 million dollars and now it's in the public interest to put an end to this? For the Liberal Party, it's only in the public interest when there's a lawsuit.

The truly sad part, however, is that whenever The McGuinty breaks a promise, Ontario pays for it.

Yes, the Liberals were wrong to keep this going for so long, but lets not forget who started the whole lawsuit, and that was the Harris/Eves Tories. They have their hand in this by starting all of it.

I'm sorry, but that's irrelevant.

The current government and their supporters lose the ability to blame a previous government when they conduct themselves in identically the same way.

The Ontario Liberals own this, and the own all of it.

While the lawsuit was started during the Conservatives term in office, it should of been stopped by the Liberals. 7 years is a long time to fight for something that should never have happend.

I'm not saying that the Liberals are blamless, because they are responsible for their inactions on this for the past 4 years.

But to say that the Liberals own this is not true either. The Tories started the Ontario Government down that path, and it was their decision to do so. So they own the blame for that.
