Since declaring myself independent, I have largely found myself not as angry as I used to be.

Because you are not obsessed with defending every policy, every whim, every assertion for or against your party. It is freedom. It is beauty.
Being non-partizan is a wonderful thing. I claim to be, but of late I have slipped into the horrible habits of mud-slinging with those whom I disagree. Bad habits die hard I guess.
You are less angry because you are less emotionally involved in your ideas. That is my suspicion anyway.

I think that's it.
I no longer feel the need to jump to a defense, nor an attack. I can disagree or agree at a time of my choosing.
I'm still considering doing the same Jim. Keep us updated on your state and perhaps others will follow.
