Oh, Lucy ...

Somebody has some explaining to do [Canadian Cerberus, Jason Kenney, Stockwell Day and ties to PMOI/MEK]:

For those just tuning in, Jason Kenney is Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Parliamentary Secretary and (let's be honest here) the de facto Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Kenney is also the Conservative MP who calls anyone associating (or standing sort of close to even) with anyone who is pro-Hezbollah to be apologists for terrorists.

Jason Kenney is also a guy who recently met with and welcomed an Iranian terrorist group called the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) and also known as Mujahedin e Khalq (MEK).

Stockwell Day is the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness. Day is also a friend of that same terrorist group who has sent them his best wishes and who only last year was demanding that it was wrong to put the group on the government terrorist list the government (even though the US did the same thing).

I'm here all day.

As far as I can tell, for consistency's sake, it would seem that, it is either wrong for Members of Parliament to even talk about talking to a group listed as a terrorist organization, or it is conceivable, that "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter."

Amm, try reading the whole article from the Toronto Star. Even the "Red Star" points out that Kenney didn't do anything wrong.

Anon 10:16,

Fair enough. Then, did Borys Wrzesnewskyj?

Careful Jim, you're straying from the BT pary line of defending to the death any Conservative MP, no matter how hypocritical they appear to be. ;)

I expect to see the knives out for you soon. (not from us at Prog Blog though)

Keep your head up!

I'm giving Kenney the benefit of the doubt. Still, this leaves a sour taste in my mouth

I submit the two following scenarios for your consideration:

A: grabbing a megaphone on your way to work (on the steps of the Canadian Parliament) and saying a couple of words in favour of human rights in Iran. Finding out later that the group (operating in Canada with impunity for some reason) has ties to a terrorist group.

B: Traveling to a region of a foreign country controlled by terrorists to sympathize with *known* terrorists.

Yes, by all means be careful Jim. If you speak out against an MP in any way you will be officially hung, drawn and quartered by the BT's.

As far as I can tell, Borys Wrzesnewskyj did not go to Lebanon to "sympathize with 'known' terrorists".

He said something regrettable after visiting the area. At the very least, Jason Kenney did the same thing.

Wonder why the RCMP let this terrorist group on Parliament Hill - It would seem that they are lax to let this crowd in?

Sure Stephen... Kenney just happenned to pick up a megaphone not knowing who he was speaking to.. how gullible do you think people are?

And that would also explain Stockwell Day's sending his best wishes to the Iranian group ahead of a rally they held in Paris?

His own website listed the MEK as a terorist organization and what, he didnt read it?

Then again, as Catnip says, Day railed against adding the MEK to the list of terrorist groups.. so maybe its not so shocking

A photograph of Kenney at an April rally, organized by the Committee in Defense of Human Rights in Iran,
(photo then) appears on the website of the National Council of Resistance of Iran...

Who else was at the rally? Can't imagine LibDippers letting the Cons take the stage in a Human rights Rally.

No word from the top yet, hmmmm that suggests 1) PMSH is letting the left make this an issue, and then will produce names of all the Lib & Dipper MPs there too
2) Best to deal with this once the left has flung all the mud, waiting to then set the story straight with facts
3) There is no defense for stupidity
